COMMUNITY OUTREACH SERVICES, INC. (COS) is a state-certified, multidisciplinary, behavioral health care center that offers outpatient psychological services to individuals in the Washington, DC metropolitan area. As a non-profit community based organization that helps individuals with mental health and/or substance use concerns we are committed to providing professional, confidential, and evidence based care to our clients.
Community Outreach Services, Inc. is an innovative human services 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization offering wraparound quality services that will facilitate reintegration. Our target population includes adults and juveniles in the Criminal Justice System. Our services prepares them for reentry to the Washington Metropolitan Area.
Community Outreach Services is an approved educational provider for the National Association of Alcohol and Drug Abuse Counselors (NAADAC). We provide training and workshops focused on human services and related topics to addiction counselors, professional counselors, social workers, and psychologists.
Community Outreach services, Inc. is a State of Maryland DHMH (Department of Health and Mental Hygiene) Certified program offering the following services:
- DWI/DUI Early Intervention
- SAP – Certified Department of Transportation (DOT) Program
Community Outreach Services was founded in 2010 by Dr. Michael W. Nettles, D.Min, M.Ed, LPC.
Our Mission
The mission of Community Outreach Services is to provide therapeutic and mental health services to all populations in need of behavioral health care. Community Outreach Services’ focus is to break down barriers and stereotypes in communities concerning the need for mental health services. COS realizes many people in this community cannot afford individual or group counseling services and it is our mission to seek resources that would enable people to have a wide range of mental health treatment services available to them.
Our Philosophy
Community Outreach Services’ substance abuse comprehensive treatment program, primary objective is to support clients in achieving abstinence and enhancing recovery within the community. Community Outreach Services further provides its services in close cooperation with a variety of detoxification and residential programs and community self-help groups. The client is expected to be involved in determining his/her own treatment goals. The Community Outreach Services program is available to all without regard to race, sex, religion or national origin.
