Course Description
This training is designed to allow participants to become familiar with the basics of Psychopharmacology in addictions treatment. Participants will be provided with a general knowledge of the most commonly prescribed psychiatric medications. K2, buprenorphine and methadone will be addressed also.
Workshop Objectives
- Participants will be able to discuss the importance of the Therapists/Counselor as a person and as a professional
- Participants will become familiar with the therapeutic use of psychotropic medications in addictions treatment
- Participants will be able to discuss the importance of mood-stabilizing medications in treatment
- Participants will be able to discuss the differences surrounding antipsychotic, mood stabilizers, antidepressants & antianxiety medications
- Participants will gain a better understanding of the importance of pharmacotherapy and client medication compliance
